	TIGER BALM The Tiger Balm story began a century ago in Rangoon. There, a Chinese herbalist, Aw Chu Kin, established a small business called The Forever Peaceful Shop’. His sons re-discovered the recipe of a natural ointment used by Chinese emperors centuries before. One of them, Aw Boon Haw, travelled through Malaysia and Singapore selling the remarkable balm. Wherever he went, he took along a tiger - the embodiment of strength and vitality in the Last - as a symbol of its potency. 	ALKA SELTZER Alka Seltzer had its origins in a house-hold remedy of Tom Keene, former newspaper editor of the ‘Elkhart Truth in Indiana, USA When an influenza epidemic swept the area, he supplied his staff with his own mixture of aspirin and bicarbonate of soda to keep them healthy. News of the remedy’s success reached Andrew Beardsiey, Chairman of Dr. Miles Medical Company, a subsidiary of Bayer. Miles then turned Keene’s original recipe into one of the worlds best known and most successful products.
