And, at one time, accounted for 50% of the production from their South Australian factory. Powered originally by the famous 'Hemi' (for hemispherical head) straight six engine and later a 318 ci V8, the Charger won immediate acceptance from the Australian motoring public and had a strong export market, particularly to New Zealand, the U.K. and Japan. Eleven R/T Chargers were entered in the Bathurst 500 mile endurance race in 1971 without success, but in 1972 a Charger came home in third place giving Chrysler its best ever result in the race. 31,857 Chargers were built between 1971 and 1978 when production ceased and surviving samples are now highly sought-after collector's items. Now Trax is delighted to bring back the Holden panel van, together with an equally famous motoring name, the NRMA Road Service. The NRMA placed it's faith in Holden vans for their robust construction and ability to carry all the equipment demanded of a "mobile workshop." The HZ version is powered by a 202 engine with a 3-speed automatic transmission and was first used by the NRMA in 1977. Even today this vehicle can still be seen in service throughout many rural centres across New South Wales.
