AUSSlE MUSCLE CAR SET

In the early 1970’s, on roads and racetracks across Australia, a battle raged between three world-class performance cars.

Beneath its sleek and sophisticated lines, Holden's GTS Monaro coupe packed the punch of a 5.3 litre Chevrolet V8. Two-times winner of the Bathurst 500 endurance race, the Monaro was also a competent rally machine and a fine long-distance tourer.

In its day, the 5.8 litre Ford Falcon GTHO Phase 3 was the fastest four-door sedan in the world. In 1971 GTHO's dominated the Bathurst 500 mile race with a 1-2-3 finish and made the Phase 3 the most collectible Australian car of all time.

Although powered by ‘only’ a 4.3 litre six cylinder engine, the E38 Charger was the fastest accelerating Aussie muscle-car, taking just over 14 seconds to cover a standing 400 metres. R/T (Road or Track) version with its ‘6 PACK’ triple Weber carburettor engine was a force to be reckoned with.

Then and now, this trio enjoyed a reputation as Australia’s most potent and desirable muscle machines. But which one would you have chosen?

This special Trax ‘Aussie Muscle Car’ set lets Australian enthusiasts stage their own head-to-head confrontation between three immortal classics. It also commemorates the time when Australian performance cars were the equal of any in the world.

In their original schemes, even the colours are special - the exciting combination of Wild Violet (GTHO), Silver Mink (GTS) and Hemi Orange (Charger) enhancing the distinctive lines of these uniquely Australian muscle machines.
